GUNUNG RINJANI
5 days totally, trek duration (crossing of the Rinjani massif) 4 days
Day 1 – Breakfast and early departure to the harbour Labuhan Bajo. With the ferryboat to Lembar / Lombok and by car crossing the island. Late afternoon arrival at Sembalun (1100 m altitude). Registration at the National Reserve’s office. Preparation of the trek, checking of the equipment. Dinner. Overnight at Lembah Rinjani in simple Double- room Bungalows.
Day 2 – Breakfast and early departure : ascent through open savannah slopes. At 11.oo lunch, then climbing the steep shoulder and the eastern crater rim Plawangan at 2700 m. Spectacular views into the crater, onto lake Segara Anak and across the Lombok street to Bali. Dinner at the camp fire and over night in 2-persons tents . Walking duration +/- 7 hours, difference in altitude 1600 m .
Day 3 - at 3.oo a.m. coffee and departure. After a very steep first slope climbing the Rinjani ridge along a wide ascent. Finally very steep and exhausting through volcanic ashes to the peak at 3730 m with an overwhelming and spectacular round view to Lombok, Sumbawa and Bali. At about 7 a.m. Picknick und then back to the shoulder Plawangan. There having a late breakfast. Around noon time descent to the lake, partly on difficult trails. At about 4 p.m. arrival at the lake and the hot springs (2050 m) Swimming and bathing. Dinner at the campfire. Total walking time +/- 9 hours, difference of altitude 2700 Meter.

Day 4 - „Early morning tea and coffee“, then an extensive bath in the hot springs, breakfast, and rest until noon time. Departure and again upwards across steep slopes to the northern crater rim (2650 m); rest and descent until pos 3 and a small camp site in the mountain forest at 2000 m altitude. Dinner at the camp fire and overnight in the tents. Total walking time 5 to 6 hours, difference of altitude 1200 meter.
Day 5 - Breakfast and descent through the high mountain forest with its different altitude zones Arrival in Senaru at 600 m; walking time 4 hours, difference of altitude 1400 meter. Rest and lunch in an open terrace restaurant, then drive back to the harbour of Lembar, ferry boat to Bali and back to the villas. Late arrival.
This tour starts in Bali, most of our guest spend one week for relaxation Bali before they do this tour.
